ROME FIUMICINO AIRPORT

Design competition for the master plan of Rome Fiumicino International Airport. The development will increase the airport’s capacity from 35 million passengers per annum (mppa) to 105 mppa. Approximately 3,212 acres (1,300 ha) will be added to the airport’s existing area of 3,707 acres (1,500 ha). The scope of work included new runways, a sixth terminal in a midfield location, all major support facilities and commercial development. The initial phase is 2020 and the ultimate planning horizon of the masterplan is 2050.
