As part of the ongoing expansion of Frankfurt Airport, we supported the terminal development of a new low-cost pier adjacent to the planned Terminal 3 development. The project was driven by the increasing demand for low-cost air traffic at the airport and required the seamless integration of new facilities into the wider Terminal 3 programme and its neighbouring infrastructure.
Our scope of work included comprehensive capacity analysis, the development of the programme of requirements, functional terminal planning, and close coordination with a broad range of stakeholders. A particular focus was placed on balancing operational efficiency, passenger experience, and future flexibility within a highly dynamic airport environment.
For Pier G, we carried out the demand analysis and requirements management, with a strong emphasis on developing and evaluating terminal layout options. In addition, we coordinated key stakeholder interfaces, including terminal operations, retail, and baggage handling, ensuring that all functional and commercial requirements were fully aligned throughout the planning process.
The project also involved the planning of phased terminal development and the detailed refinement of the preferred terminal layout, supporting a scalable and future-oriented solution for Frankfurt Airport’s continued growth.
And almost as a side note — but an important one nonetheless — we also developed a dedicated furniture concept and specification list for the terminal operations areas. While often overlooked in large-scale infrastructure projects, these operational details play a vital role in the everyday passenger experience. The concept was designed to support smoother passenger handling processes.
